About the 2nd Street Market
The 2nd Street Market is a facility of Five Rivers MetroParks and supports its mission to protect the region's natural heritage by providing the community with access to fresh, local food, which is often healthier and less taxing on the environment. The 2nd Street Market — which is home to more than 50 businesses — is one of downtown Dayton's longest-standing shopping destinations, offering locally-grown produce, artisan wares, prepared foods, specialty items and more. The 2nd Street Market also offers weekly programs and events hosted by Five Rivers MetroParks educators, Market vendors, local organizations and artists that invite people to explore health and wellness; arts and culture; at-home sustainable practices; and more. The 2nd Street Market's hours are Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Market fills a block-long former B&O railroad freight house built in 1911. Five Rivers MetroParks renovated the building in 2001 to support growing and buying local food, and a 131-panel solar array went up on the roof in June 2024.
